Serious accident shuts down I-22 westbound near Jasper

JASPER, AL (WBRC) -

Jasper police say a serious accident has shut down both westbound lanes of I-22/Highway 78 near Exit 52, the Saragossa exit. The area is between Jasper and Carbon Hill in Walker County.

The accident involves an 18-wheeler, according to JPD. There is no word yet on any other vehicles involved or possible injuries.

The Jasper police department tweeted that drivers should avoid the area if possible.
