A teenaged girl was killed Thursday morning in a car accident in Pender County. It happened around 6:30am on Highway 210 in Rocky Point less than one mile from Heide Trask High School.
Troopers say 18-year-old Jennifer Chadwick of Rocky Point was traveling east in a white Honda Civic. Troopers say she passed a car, and when she tried to merge back over, she lost control of her vehicle, ran into a ditch and flipped.
Authorities are not sure exactly what caused the accident butbelieve Chadwick was driving faster than the posted 55 mile-per-hour speed limit.
Part of Highway 210 was closed to traffic for more than an hour, but it has since opened up.
