WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A cold front will bring showers for Monday night and then a shot of much cooler and drier air for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

CHRISTMAS EVE: A lingering shower could happen early. Otherwise, expect gradual clearing and continued cool northwest breezes. Highs will mainly be in the low 50s.

CHRISTMAS EVE NIGHT: Expect clear skies, light north winds, and cold lows mainly in the mid and upper 20s inland and low 30s for the coast. Santa should handle this well!

CHRISTMAS DAY: Sunshine will try to give temperatures a boost but will have limited success. Expect highs only mainly in the mid and upper 40s amid brisk northeast breezes.

EXTENDED FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS: A shower or two could form Thursday. Otherwise, dry weather will be the rule into the weekend. Daily highs: mainly 50s.
