SURF CITY, NC (WECT) – The Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees have agreed to use Bordeaux Construction as the general contractor for construction of the new campus location in Surf City.

According to CFCC spokesperson David Hardin, construction of the Alston W. Burke Campus is expected to begin in February and be open to students in early to mid-2015.

"Having a permanent home for the college in Surf City will allow Pender County residents access to college classes and job training opportunities in a more convenient location," said CFCC President Dr. Ted D. Spring.

Hardin said the building will be 8,000 square feet and contain five classrooms, media center, lab and staff work area.

The total project budget is set at $2.6 million.
