NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office were called to respond to reports of an armed home invasion Wednesday night.

According to New Hanover County dispatchers, deputies responded to the 500 block of Carolina Inlet Acres Drive, just south of Wilmington, to a report of an armed breaking and entering.

Sgt. Brewer with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office said two men broke into a home of an elderly couple living on the street.

He says each suspect was wielding a handgun, and demanded money and drugs from the couple. When the couple had nothing to give, the would be robbers left.

The men were able to get away with one cell phone.

There were no reported injuries or shots fired during the invasion.
