Police identify men charged after gunfire, police chase

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Officers with the Wilmington Police Department arrested four people Monday night in connection to reports of gunshots and a brief police chase.

Police received calls of shots being fired near 41st Street and Shipyard Boulevard around 10:45 p.m. Detectives in the area confirmed, they too, had also heard shots in the area of South College Road.

Officers received a report of gunfire coming from a vehicle traveling in the area, and began looking for a burgundy Honda Acura. When they found a vehicle matching that description, they followed it, and the driver of the Acura tried to escape officers.

According to police, the vehicle ran through a stop sign, a stop light and exceeded speeds of up to 80 mph.

A short time later, the Acura hit a curb at George Anderson Drive and four people inside the vehicle ran away.

K-9 officers and the police helicopter, SABLE, were called in to help locate the men.

Officers arrested and charged Tedrick McClary, Gregory Nixon, Tymir Wigfall (mugshot not available) and Xavier Hall with:

  • felony fleeing to elude
  • discharge firearm from an enclosure
  • conspiracy to commit felony
  • hit and run
  • resisting, delaying and obstructing
  • possession of drugs
