NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A former police chief is wearing a badge once again in New Hanover County.
William Younginer joined the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office near the end of September this year, according to records with the agency.
Younginer announced his retirement as Chief of Police of the Carolina Beach Police Department in November 2011, months after a photo of him and a fellow town employee left some questioning the use of taxpayer property.
He currently works part-time as a temporary special deputy, according to records from the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office. We're told he works in recruitment, gathering information for processing of new employees.
