Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The jet stream (storm track) will settle well north of North Carolina this week. With that, expect dry weather and a noticeable late-week warming trend.

MONDAY NIGHT: Expect clear skies and calm winds. Temperatures will dip to late-night lows in the potentially-frosty low and mid 30s for most inland areas and upper 30s and low 40s for most beaches.

TUESDAY AND WEDENSDAY: Expect mostly sunny days with highs in the 60s for Tuesday and 50s for Wednesday. In between, Tuesday night will likely be dry with temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

EXTENDED FORECAST: Expect low rain chances and mild highs in the 60s and 70s from Thursday into the weekend. A storm system will bring the highest chances for showers late Sunday into early next week.

WHITE CHRISTMAS WATCH: Though a cooler temperature trend is likely for Christmas Eve and Day, but a White Christmas is unlikely. The chance of a White Christmas in any given year is about 2%.
