Car thieves hit half a dozen cars in Henrico

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Amber Peacemaker and her husband have lived in this Henrico neighborhood for the last two years. Word of 6 cars being broken into overnight near the 2900 block of Greenway Avenue has amber concerned not just for her own safety but for her young son.

Peacemaker says that the thought of people taking things from others was sickening.

"I work hard for my money and I work hard for what my family has and for somebody to break in and steal stuff and do whatever they are doing or even vandalizing anything upsets me because I'm the one that has to pay for it in the end," Amber Peacemaker said.

Authorities in Hanover reported several car break-ins over the past few weeks. A similar crime was reported in a neighborhood in Henrico, and on Friday a woman called NBC 12 about her car being broken into in Colonial Heights. Authorities are still trying to work to figure out if all of these incidents are connected.

Authorities say its common for thieves to look for things of value in cars during the holiday season. Peacemaker says she and her family plan to be extra cautious from here on out and encourage others to do the same.

"Need to be a little more careful because I leave a lot of stuff in the car not say like but valuable to me," Amber Peacemaker said.

Police are still working these crimes if you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers that number 804-780-1000.
