WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Police and Sheriff's deputies responded to the east side of Wilmington to a report of shots fired Friday night.

According to Wilmington Police, shots were fired in the 3100 block of Princess Place Drive Friday night.

Wilmington police and New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the shooting which happened close to the Creekwood Community.

An officer saw an unidentified suspect shooting a gun in the 3100 block of Princess Place Drive. Before the officer had time to turn his patrol car around the suspect fled the area, and law enforcement was unable to find locate the suspect.

There were no reports of anyone injured by the shooting, and no homes or property were damaged by the bullets.
