(RNN) - South Africa held a memorial service for Nelson Mandela on Tuesday.

World leaders and citizens alike paid their respects to Mandela, who passed away last week. He was 95 years old.

Congressional leaders said they reached a bipartisan deal on the national budget. The House approved it Thursday night. The bill - if passed by the Senate next week - would set federal spending for this fiscal year and next at about $1 trillion.

Pope Francis has been named Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2013. He is credited for turning around the Catholic Church's image and having a reputation of being a voice for the poor, according to Time.
