PE teacher accused of intentionally hitting student moved to different school

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A teacher at Cerro Gordo Elementary has been reassigned to another school after being accused of assault, according to Superintendent Alan Faulk.

Faulk said the principal at Cerro Gordo Elementary was notified last Thursday that PE teacher Jason Nance allegedly hit a student intentionally while playing basketball.

According to Faulk, board members decided Monday night to move Nance to Guideway Elementary where he will teach special education.

The superintendent said an internal investigation was conducted, but couldn't go into details because it's a personnel issue.

According to Faulk, this is not he first time school officials have had to check in on Nance. He said a prior incident involved Nance's supervision of a fight between two students.
