Wilmington Real Estate Company closes after CEO convicted

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Two months after the CEO of a Wilmington real estate company was convicted in federal court, his business has closed.

eShowings employed more than a dozen people in Wilmington, who have complained in recent months that their paychecks were bouncing.

Former CEO, Charles Smith, was convicted of stealing money withheld from employees pay checks for taxes.

An eShowings spokesperson told us last month their financial issues had been resolved, but on Monday, employees were told the business was closing and they were out of a job.
