First Alert Weather: chilly weather stays a few days...

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A chilly and dry high pressure system will govern our weather through Friday. Over the weekend, a warmer and wetter storm system will move through the region. Details...

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Expect clear or partly cloudy skies and cold temperatures (lows mainly 28 - 32 inland and 32 - 36 for coastal sections). Breezes will be light and northerly and patchy frost may form.

THURSDAY: Despite mainly sunny skies, temperatures will not grow very much. Expect afternoon highs mainly in the upper 40s and north winds generally 10 to 15mph will add an extra "bite" at times.

FRIDAY: Expect a cold and frosty sunrise (most spots in the 20s!) and then partly sunny skies and highs mainly in the low and mid 50s for the afternoon. For the third day in a row, rain chances will stay near 0%.

WEEKEND: Rain chances return with the aforementioned storm system: 50% Saturday morning, 70% Saturday afternoon and night, 50% Sunday morning, and 30% Sunday afternoon. Daily highs: mainly in the 60s.
