RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Winter weather has brought on a number of accidents throughout Central Virginia. VDOT is reporting more than 40 crashes in and around our area Sunday.

Virginia State Police are reporting more than 500 weather related crashes statewide.

Right now, there have been no reports of serious or life-threatening injury because of these accidents. Still a lot of people on the roads this evening, but everyone is taking it slow because of ice and freezing rain.

An accident on Interstate 64 heading west in Henrico closed two lanes. One car appeared to be crushed in the front. There were no serious or major injuries in this accident.

An accident on I-95 heading north in Henrico near Chamberlayne Road involving two tractor-trailers shut down three lanes and brought traffic to a stand still for a couple of hours.

Both accidents have since been cleared and traffic is moving steady.
