First Alert Weather: temperature swings continue! ...with sharp warm-up ahead for Monday

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A cold front will bring the highest rain chances of the week on Tuesday. Ahead of the front, expect a sharp warm-up for Monday. Post-front, expect another sharp cool-down for Wednesday.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Expect continued mostly cloudy skies - with a small chance of showers and fog. Temperatures will begin the night in the upper 30s and lower 40s but they may rise slightly late. Winds: continued north or northeast at mainly 10mph speeds.  

MONDAY: Clouds may break for a little sun at times but also may deliver a passing shower or two. Southwest breezes of 5 to 15mph speeds will aid in a sharp warm-up! Expect afternoon highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. 

TUESDAY: Expect early temperatures in the 60s and even a few 70s but readings will fall back through the 50s and perhaps even the 40s in the afternoon. Clouds will deliver scattered to possibly numerous showers. 

EXTENDED FORECAST: Wednesday and Thursday will have variable clouds, a slight rain chance, and cooler high temperatures mainly in the lower 50s. Friday will likely be dry and cool. A new storm system will bring 40% rain chances for next weekend.
