LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported that road conditions across all eight counties in District 5 were in good shape Saturday morning.
Jefferson, Oldham, Bullitt, Spencer and Franklin Counties reported wet pavement with road crews working to push slush onto the shoulders and out of turning lanes, according to KYTC spokeswoman Andrea Clifford. Henry, Shelby and Trimble County crews continued to salt and plow because some routes in those counties were still partly covered.
In Jefferson County KYTC crews are responsible for snow removal only on interstates with Metro Public Works handling other roads.
Road crews will continue to work throughout the morning hours to ensure roads are in good condition for travel. Clifford said contract workers would be released from duty first and all states crews should be finished by noon.
Clifford said KYTC would participate in a conference call with the National Weather Service Saturday afternoon regarding the winter weather forecasted for Sunday. The information gleaned from that call will be used to determine when to bring road crews on duty to battle the next round of precipitation.
