WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)- Over 200 people turned out on the campus of UNCW Friday night to roast Linda Pearce.
The CEO of Elderhaus, an adult daycare facility, is retiring at the end of the month.
Longtime friends poked fun at Pearce inside Burney Hall.
Pearce started Elderhaus over 30 years ago after taking care of an elderly relative. She recognized the need for families to be able to take their loved ones somewhere during the day.
"It's hard, " Pearce said. "I know how important it is for families to be able to take a break."
Elderhaus now serves over 150 participants.
Pearce, who has also served on UNCW's Board of Trustees, says she retiring to start a new chapter in her life. She's engaged to be married.
Pearce's last day is December 31.
