First Alert Weather: Cooler weather returns, shower chances increase

Friday night and Saturday morning will be very mild, but much colder weather arrives  Saturday afternoon behind a strong cold front.  Off and on showers are likely on both Saturday and Sunday. 

FRIDAY NIGHT : Clouds will increase overnight but southwesterly winds ahead of a cold front will keep the temperatures on the mild side.  Overnight lows will only drop into the mid 60's.  Patchy fog will develop in spots. 

SATURDAY: Clouds will yield off and on showers, but a day-long wash-out appears unlikely at this time. The morning will be very mild with morning temperatures approaching 70.  During the afternoon a powerful cold front will quickly drop temperatures into the low 50's with wind chills in the 40's.  Showers are likely and chilly for Saturday night with lows in the low 40's.

SUNDAY: A chilly and raw day with more off and on showers, especially early.  Highs will barely clear the 50 degree hurdle.  It will be chilly Sunday evening with a shot of light showers for the Wilmington Holiday Parade.  Sunday night lows drop into the mid 40's as milder air begins a return.   

NEXT WEEK: A roller coaster.  Another surge of mild air returns Sunday night into Monday.  Monday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the low 70's.  Monday night will be mild but another surge of colder air arrives on Tuesday.  Highs in the 60's will occur early with temperatures steadily falling by afternoon.  Clouds will return along with showers becoming likely.  Cool and dry Wednesday through Friday with plenty of sun and highs in the upper 40's and low 50's.
