WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County School Board held their policy meeting Tuesday afternoon where they discussed several items, including the proposed fraternization policy.

It is unclear what prompted the review of the policy, but a school board member says a relationship in the central office sparked the discussion.

The policy committee voted to pass the proposed policy pointing out that disciplinary action should be taken if a superior has a relationship with an employee.

This policy does not apply to teacher and teacher relationships. They also added a clause to prohibit intern and faculty relationships.

During the school board meeting the policy committee said any policy passed during their policy meeting will be posted online for public input and will be later voted on by school leaders.
