NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - From bullying and substance abuse to suicide, there are a lot of serious issues kids are facing today at such a young age.

That's why a former wrestler who has taken a lot of blows in his life, from reaching his dreams to hitting rock bottom, wants to inspire kids in the Cape Fear area.

Former WWE professional wrestler, Marc Mero, is visiting several New Hanover County and Brunswick County Schools as part of his 'Champion of Choices' program and the 'Never Give Up' bus tour.

Mero shares his personal story of dreaming big, making it, and then losing it all because of making the wrong choices in life.

"The reason why they can relate to me is they hear my story-- you know, coming from a broken family, dreaming big, achieving those goals and then losing everything from my bad choices. We are defined by our choices."
