COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – New information has just come into our newsroom about an accident that resulted in two people being ejected from a vehicle and one being airlifted to the hospital.
According to State Highway Patrol Investigators Charles Faulk was driving while impaired, crossed the center line, drove into a ditch, and flipped his truck. At that time he and his passenger, Zachary Stewart, were thrown from the vehicle.
Faulk, 26, was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. The passenger, 20-year-old Stewart, was taken via ambulance to Columbus Regional Healthcare System.
Faulk will be charged with DWI, speeding, and not wearing a seatbelt. Troopers say more charges could follow.
The accident happened at the intersection of Hallsboro Road N and Whitehall Road.
