No. 6 Duke handles Alabama 74-64

Alabama lost to No. 6 Duke in the semifinals of the NIT Preseason Tipoff. Alabama lost to No. 6 Duke in the semifinals of the NIT Preseason Tipoff.

NEW YORK (RNN) - Alabama controlled the game for most of the first half before No. 6 Duke took over and never looked back, beating the Crimson Tide 74-64 in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tipoff.

Alabama (3-2) led the Blue Devils (6-1) by as much as seven points for the first 11 minutes of the game. Duke soon rallied and led at halftime 33-22. After returning to the court, Duke dominated the second half, never losing the lead.

The Crimson Tide had some trouble with 3-pointers, making only two of their 12 attempts. The Blue Devils also had trouble but made six of their 15.

Nick Jacobs led Alabama with 18 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Both teams were fighting to advance to the championship round in the NIT Season Tipoff. Alabama will play Drexel in the consolation game for third place on Friday, Nov. 29.
