(CNN) – The holidays mean increased traffic on the road and in the air.

That’s why the Federal Aviation Administration says it will take advantage of “unused military airspace” to help with congestion during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.

However, this is little consolation for those who are experiencing delays because of a storm that struck the east coast.

In New York, winds caused delays at all three of the major airports on Wednesday, and in parts of Pennsylvania up to a foot of snow fell.
