BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

A third person has been charged in connection with Lowcountry home burglaries.

Brent Elliott Doddridge, 18, of St. Helena, and Logan James Phillips, 18, of Hilton Head Island, were arrested Nov. 13 in connection with a burglary attempt at home on Sea Pines Drive.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded to a call from a 63-year-old homeowner about a burglary in progress. She told deputies that at about 1:45 p.m., she saw while inside her home two men with bandanas over their faces walking through her yard.

She called 911 when they jumped over the fence into her backyard and could no longer see them. She then saw them jump back over the fence into a dark blue sedan that was parked in a wooded area next to her home. Deputies converged at the area, a Volkswagen Jetta with two men in it was seen traveling on Coffin Point Road near Cee Cee Road, according to a BCSO news release.

The car was pulled over and the two people inside were identified as Doddridge and Phillips, who had been in the homeowner's back yard.

Investigators determined that Doddridge and Phillips were also identified in three other burglaries that were over the last two weeks on Lady's Island, according to the BCSO.

Doddridge and Phillips are charged with attempted break-in on Nov. 18 at a Sea Pines Drive home; first-degree burglary on Nov. 13 at a Marsh Hawk Drive home, second-degree burglary on Nov. 7 at a Pleasant Place Drive home and second-degree burglary on Nov. 6 at a Woods Lane home.

The third person Michael Steininger is charged with receiving stolen property. The sheriff's office said that deputies managed to recover a lot of the stolen items.

The investigation continues and more charges may be pending. Anyone with information is asked to contact either Investigator A. Zsamar at 843.255.3408 or Crimestoppers.
