Losing a child is a parent's worst nightmare.
That nightmare came true for Diana Mercer-Imler. On Sunday, Nov. 3, she woke up to a knock on the door.
"I thought maybe Jenny had forgotten her key and I was answering the door for Jenny," said a teary eyed Mercer-Imler. "It was these two big men from the coroner's office."
They were there to tell her that her daughter, Jenny Mercer, was hit by a car at the intersection of South Forest Beach Road, and Cordillo Parkway, and she was dead.
"I am so lost without my daughter, because we were so very close," said Mercer-Imler. "She would give love and support to any one she knew, especially those who really needed it."
Mercer says the pain will never go away. But, she needs closure, which she will not get, until the person responsible comes forward.
She has just one question for the person who killed her daughter.
"I would ask why? How could you not give her the last chance of life? That would have been to stop and call for emergency services, but you took that away from her too."
Highway patrol has taken over this investigation, and they're asking anyone with information to contact them.
