Students at Shaw High School held an open house and recruited new students for their Mass Communications Academy on Monday night.
The annual event gave 8th graders in the Muscogee County School District a chance to get more information about Shaw High School and its magnet program.
Teenagers and their parents were given a chance to tour the school, meet faculty and administrators, and enjoy the event's extracurricular fair.
"I've been involved in the Mass Communications Academy since my freshman year," said student Kalin Tate. "I love everything that we do here. We use basically the same type of equipment that most newsrooms use. It prepares us for that, especially those of us who want to go into broadcast journalism like myself. We go into the workforce with a leg up. We're ready to go."
