DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - Darlington City Police confirmed a man wanted on assault and battery charges turned himself in to law enforcement.
But at the time of his first arrest, the victim in the assault was still alive. Police issued a photo of 29-year-old Tori Antonio James hoping the public could help locate him after an assault on Nov. 17 at a home in North Main Trailer park.
Days later he turned himself in to face assault charges. After James' release on bail, 30-year-old Joseph A. Davis of Darlington died from the injuries sustained in the assault, Coroner Todd Hardee said.
Davis' body was sent to Newberry for autopsy. James turned himself in again to face manslaughter charges.
