Open house held at the Springfield Armory

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A new group supporting the Springfield Armory held an open house at the facility on Saturday afternoon.

The Springfield Armory Alliance formed earlier this year and the nonprofit is designed to promote, preserve and raise money for the national historic site.

Those involved tell CBS 3 that friends groups like the alliance play an important role across the country.

Anyone interested in joining the Springfield Armory Alliance can do so by picking up a form at the armory's front desk.
