WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -  Models hit the runway for a fashion show at the Balcony on Dock Street Saturday.

The "I Am Beautiful" fashion show was hosted by members of the Student Council for Exceptional Children at UNCW.

Fifteen models strutted down the runway to raise awareness about disabilities and getting rid of the "r" word.

The event featured a photo booth, a raffle, and plenty of modeling.

All clothing worn in the fashion show came from Vintage Values.

Angela Pollock, a senior at UNCW, organized most of the event.

"We paid attention to the individuals (today) said they're all extremely beautiful in their own way," explained Pollock.

We just wanted to highlight their beauty and not focus on the disabilities they have today

Pollock said she thought the event was a huge success and thought that a couple hundred people attended.

She said proceeds from the event will benefit the Miracle League organization.
