Columbia police are investigating two homicides that occurred hours from each other.
The first homicide happened around 9 p.m. in the 700 block of Martha Street Friday, police said.
Officer Jennifer Timmons with the Columbia Police Department said three men were shot outside of a home.
They were transported to the hospital where one man died as a result of his injuries, Timmons said.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the victim as 21-year-old Nathaniel McKelvin, lll.
Timmons said investigators are talking with possible witnesses and continue to follow several leads.
The second shooting happened in the 2500 block of Bailey Street shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Responding CPD officers found a man unresponsive on the ground, Timmons said. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Watts identified the second fatality as 21-year-old Willie Gilmore.
Preliminary information suggests that the victim may have been involved in an argument moments before the shooting, Timmons said.
At this time, CPD Officers do not have information to suggest that both cases are connected, however the investigations continue, Timmons said.
