Auburn's Tre Mason in line for possible Doak Walker award

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

Auburn Tigers running back Tre Mason finds himself one of the 10 semifinalists in line for the 2013 Doak Walker Award. The Award is named after three-time SMU All-America running back and 1948 Heisman Trophy winner Doak Walker.

Mason, a junior from Palm Beach, Fla., has racked up more than a thousand yards (1,038 to be exact) rushing for the season. He's also 2,000-yard mark in his career on the plains.

Having rushed for touchdowns in the last seven games, ( He scored seven touchdown in the last two games alone), Mason is already fourth on Auburn's single-season rushing touchdown list with 16.

Auburn says Mason leads the SEC in scoring, racking up 10.2 points per game this season for the #7 ranked Tigers.

"God has blessed me with the hard work, dedication and persistence to be able to accomplish my dreams this year," Mason said in a statement provided by the university. "Being a part of what my team is achieving is something truly special."

The 2013 Doak Walker Award winner will be named December 12, on ESPN.
