BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A man wanted for passing counterfeit money was arrested in Elizabethtown Wednesday.
According to Police Chief Bobby Kinlaw, Elizabethtown Police Sgt. Moore located Tyrone Rachim Gordon, 37, near Martin and Morehead Streets.
He was wanted by Elizabethtown Police for multiple counts of passing counterfeit money in Elizabethtown during the month of October. According to police, Gordon passed counterfeit $20 and $50 bills at several locations throughout Elizabethtown.
He was charged with passing counterfeit bills at Burger King, CVS Pharmacy and Elizabethtown ABC Store.
Police are still investigating other locations where counterfeit bills have been passed. Police are suggesting that merchants and store clerks alert and check for counterfeit bills when making transactions.
Police say during the suspect's arrest, Sgt. Moore located a small bag of marijuana in his pants pocket. He was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Gordon has been charged with seven counts of felony possession of counterfeit currency, four counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense, and two counts of felony attempted to obtain property by false pretense.
Gordon was released on a $33,000 secured bond.
