COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Another arrest has been made in connection to the shooting death of man in Tabor City in October 2013.
According to the sheriff's office, Amanda Christine Calhoun, 27 of Whiteville, was arrested earlier in the day. Most recently Brittany Tasha Norris was arrested in connection to the death of 20-year-old Lee Travis Wright.
Calhoun was charged with accessory after the fact to murder, accessory after the fact to attempted murder, and accessory after the fact to attempted robbery. Norris was charged with one count of Felon Obstruction of Justice. She is the girlfriend of shooting victim Jonathan Long, and allegedly removed property from the residence prior to law enforcement arrival. She also provided false information to investigators.
Wright and another man were found with apparent gunshot wounds inside a home on Shug Norris Road. Officials said Wright had been shot in the chest and 25-year-old Jonathan Elgin Long had been shot multiple times.
Long, who lives at the home where the shooting took place, was taken to the Loris Hospital. At last check, family members said his condition has improved and that he is conscious and communicating.
Darrius Dequan Hunter, 20, his brother Demoncrick Hunter, 23, and Christopher Frione, 29, were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit robbery after sheriff's officials say they confessed a few days after the incident to their involvement in Wright's death.
Charles Thomas Little, 19, also confessed after a search warrant was executed at his home. Little tried to run away at first, but quickly surrendered to officials without resistance. He was also charged in connection to the death of Wright.
According to the sheriff's office, a grand jury has issued indictments on the four men for attempted murder and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon in addition to their earlier charges.
The sheriff's office said Calhoun is Frione's girlfriend. Officials believe she learned about the crimes after they happened and concealed that information from law enforcement.
