Free deals to honor veterans and active service members

WILMINGTON,NC (WECT) - Honoring U.S. Military Veterans on Veterans Day could be as easy as saying "thank you."

However, if you are looking for an extra special way to say thanks, you can check out some of the free deals and events dedicated to those who have served or who are serving our country.

November 11, 2013 to January 24, 2014, Cape Fear Community College is hosting The Things They Carried Student Veteran's Exhibit.

The exhibit showcases physical items that Cape Fear Community College student and employee veterans carried with them while deployed overseas.

If you show Military ID or gear, you can get free deals at the following restaurants:

Applebees- Free signature entree on Monday, Nov. 11. Veterans will be able to choose from a special menu for a free meal.

Carrabba's- Free appetizer on Monday, Nov. 11.

Chilis- Free meal from the Veterans Day menu on Monday, Nov. 11.

Golden Corral- Free dinner on Monday, Nov. 11 from 4-9 p.m.

Hooters- Free meal with any drink purchase on Monday, Nov. 11.

Krispy Kreme- Free donut and small coffee on Monday, Nov. 11.

Little Caesar's Pizza- Free crazy bread on Monday, Nov. 11.
