A woman in Plaza Midwood is turning to the Internet to find the people who broke into her house.
Katie Short, a Charlotte-area attorney, came home to find her place in shambles and dozens of things missing. A surveillance video proves that several people spent over an hour inside her home.
The video from her neighbor's camera caught video of the crooks leaving the house. Short posted her video online at WhoRobbedMe.com, to find answers.
"They ate the food out of my refrigerator. It looks like they had a food fight when I first walked in - just destroyed everything," Short told WBTV. "My lingerie was all across my house, so you feel violated. You feel very violated."
The video shows a man in a white SUV pulling into the front of Short's home, then walking up to the front door. The SUV drives away, but police believe the driver came back. Detectives say at least four others broke in through the back door, and stayed inside for over an hour.
Another angle shows four people running through the front yard. Two of the people appear to be team-carrying a big screen television.
Short says the men stole her grandmother's jewelry, a TV, money and other heirlooms.
"My grandfather worked hard and was not a rich man and over a fifty year marriage he gave my grandmother certain pieces. She just passed away in February," Short said.
CMPD is investigating. If you have any information, detectives want to hear from you. You can remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
