School bus accident injures two people

A school bus accident early Tuesday morning sent two people to the hospital.

The accident happened around 7:00 am near the intersection of North College and Gordon Roads. Authorities say the school bus was trying to make a left hand turn on Gordon Road, when it pulled into the path of a white Toyota Four-runner.

The two collided, injuring the drivers of both vehicles. No children were on board the bus at the time of the accident.

Bus driver Alan Powers, of Wilmington, and Lecharisa Boykin of Clinton were treated for minor injuries at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Boykin's four-month-old daughter was in the back seat of the Four-runner, but was not injured in the wreck.

Powers is charged with failure to yield.
