WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Sunday morning runners could be seen racing through downtown Wilmington for the Battleship Half Marathon.
The 15th annual race started at 8 a.m. on Sunday. A 5K started at 8:10 a.m. and walkers started at 7 a.m.
The course started and ended at the Battleship, and runners made their way over both the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and the Isabel Holmes Bridge as well as through Front Street and Water Street for the race.
In 2012, organizers say $10,000 that was raised at the race was donated to non-profits such as the Battleship Restoration Fund, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training, Cape Fear Literacy Council, and others.
