WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A New Hanover County jury convicted a Castle Hayne man of robbery with a dangerous weapon Wednesday afternoon.

Jurors found 22-year-old Jamar Brown guilty of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

On May 16, 2012, Brown and Tishaud Akeem McMillan ordered a pizza and had it delivered to an abandoned home.

When the driver arrived at the address, the two men came out of hiding and held the driver at knife point.

Brown went through the car looking for valuables while McMillan held the driver at knife point. McMillan was arrested the next day in connection to the robbery, but Brown was not June of this year.

Brown refused a plea deal, which McMillan accepted, that would have reduced his sentence to 19-42 months in jail for common law robbery and conspiracy to commit common law robbery. Instead, Brown will serve 51-72 months active in the Department of Adult Corrections.

District attorney Ben David spoke on that matter saying, "We're taking a very hard line on armed robberies of delivery drivers and sending a strong message that these victims will be protected."
