911 calls released in Forest Hills shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - WECT has obtained the 911 calls from a shooting in Forest Hills that left 18-year-old Joseph David Williams dead after being shot in the back in September.

Here's an excerpt from one of the calls:

Operator: "What's the address of your emergency?"

Caller: "16 Forest Hills Dr."

Operator: "What can I help you with?"

Caller: "There are gunshots in our neighborhood and there is a car stopped in our house and a young black male walking up and down the street."

Operator: "Were the people in the car involved in the gun fire?"

Caller: "I can't tell."

Operator: "How many shots?"

Caller: "At least 6 to 8. It's a gold color car, small sedan, I'm not sure of the make."

Operator: "Where is the black male?"

Caller: "He has been walking up and down in front of our house. He is wearing white clothes and a red and blue shirt. The car is there, the motorcycle is down in the street. I don't see a person near it."

According to investigating officers, Williams and Mark Richie Jr. were riding a moped Saturday, Sept. 21 when they were shot at several times by passengers in a car following from behind.

Police are still searching for the vehicle involved in the shooting and they are asking for your help.
