There's a new way for people to showcase the heroics of our country's veterans.
The Veterans Heritage Project, VHP, will showcase stories of U.S. veterans. VHP is an Arizona-based nonprofit connecting student writers with veterans to preserve and record their stories of service. The veterans' stories are published in an annual book that is submitted to the Library of Congress. Students from schools across Arizona are taking part in the project.
In its 10 years, the Veterans Heritage Project has interviewed more than 650 Arizona veterans. Arizona Congressman David Schweikert will share a selection of student stories on his website. New stories will be posted each Wednesday and Friday starting Oct. 25 and going through Nov. 30.
Schweikert will also honor the veterans and their student interviewers at an open house event on Saturday, Nov. 9. For more information about the open house, people are asked to contact Linda Rizzo.
