First Alert Weather: A mild start to the new week

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A unseasonably cool airmass will retreat early next week and allow a much milder weather to return.

TONIGHT: Temperatures will fall into the upper 40s by Monday morning under mostly clear skies.

MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY: Warmer temperatures will be the story.  Monday will feature a lot of high and mid level clouds and maybe a small sprinkle shot as an upper system moves by.  Afternoon highs will reach the low to mid 70's.  Lows will moderate back into the low and mid 50's.  Tuesday through Thursday will be mostly to partly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 70's.  A mild trick or treat forecast Thursday evening with temperatures in the low 70's under partly cloudy skies.   Thursday night's lows warm into the upper 60's ahead of the next cool front.

FRIDAY INTO NEXT WEEKEND: Ahead of the next front Friday will feature mostly cloudy skies along with a shot at some thunderstorms.  Highs could top out near 80.  After some morning clouds and an early morning shower shot, Saturday's forecast includes decreasing clouds and highs still in the mid 70's.  Cooler air moves in Saturday night.  Skies will be clear with lows in the upper 40's.  Sunday should be sunny with highs in the upper 60's.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK: Tropical storm development is not expected in the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of Mexico at this time.
