WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover Regional Medical Center hosted a drug drop-off event at their medical mall Saturday.
The hospital asked the public to come by and drop off any unwanted or unneeded medication.
Michael Edgerton, Manager of the Outpatient Pharmacy at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, said that drugs improperly disposed of can damage the environment or end up in the hands of people who should not have them.
"There really isn't a reliable way throughout the year for people to get rid of or dispose of medications so a lot of people really rely on this event to dispose of their medications properly," said Edgerton.
He said the hospital hosts two of these events each year.
