Residents at a senior care facility near 17th Avenue and Glendale got a rude awakening overnight after a hot water pipe burst in the facility.
A maintenance worker found what looked like steam so he thought there was a fire and called 911 about 1:45 a.m. Friday.
Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Tony Mure said the steam was from a broken water pipe on the fifth floor. Mure said responding fire officials were able to shut the water off in the building and help several residents out rooms because of the flooding, but thankfully no one was injured.
Mure said there is water damage throughout the fifth floor of the Beatitudes Campus and the water was leaking down to the lower floors.
