Woman faces drug charges after authorities find nearly $6K worth of cocaine

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A Bolivia woman is facing several drug charges after being arrested Thursday night, according to a spokesperson for the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.

Sherry Marie Gilbert, 40, of Clemmons Road SE has been charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine, one count of PWIMSD cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Her arrest came during a vehicle stop on Hwy. 17 near Calabash after authorities had received numerous complaints from the community.

Gilbert's Cadillac Escalade was seized, along with more than 57 grams of cocaine with a street value of nearly $6,000.

Gilbert remains in jail under a $210,000 bond.

    Surveillance cameras captured someone opening fire at a gas station in Jasper. Police are looking for one of the people they said opened fire on Friday night, while the other is still in a hospital.
