BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – If you're confused about health insurance and the new policies that come with it, you are in luck. Specially trained certified navigators are ready and able to help.
Health Care Navigators are now available through the Brunswick County Department of Social Services and Legal Aid to help residents figure out the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Starting October 1, the Health Insurance Marketplace offers different types of health plans to meet a variety of needs and budgets. Individuals can learn about the premiums, benefits and protections offered by a variety of plans, compare options, and choose the combination of price and coverage that fits their needs and budgets.
You will need to register by December 15, 2013 in order to be covered by the first of the year. The deadline to register by in order to avoid penalties is March 31, 2014.
The Certified Navigators are able to help residents determine which plans they qualify for, as well as help answer questions, present options, and help individuals in the enrollment process for a healthcare plan. If you are interested in meeting with a navigator you can set up an appointment by calling 1-855-733-3711.
Residents will be able to meet with navigators individually in the Department of Social Service's annex on October 24, and after that, on the third Thursday of each month. Depending on the demand additional day may be added to serve the people.
Appointments must be made by phone in order to meet with a navigator. Call 1-855-733-3711 or go to healthcare.gov for more information or to make an appointment.
