WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Monday afternoon New Hanover County Commissioners reopened discussions of what to do with the county's trash.
Commissioners are still moving forward with the plan to ship trash to Sampson County, but Monday they decided to open that process up for business proposals.
The original plan was to have Waste Industries haul the trash out of the county to a landfill in Sampson County.
Monday's change of heart came two weeks after commissioners singled out Waste Industries for the contract. The change came after questions arose about the legality of giving the contract directly to one company.
