WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Officers with the Wilmington Police Department arrested one person Monday night in connection to fleeing to elude.
According to police, officers were called to respond to reports of gunshots in the 800 block of South 12th Street around 4:45 p.m.
Police said someone reported a bullet hit his home.
Witnesses told authorities two young men were shooting at a lime green Acura in the area. The vehicle left the area heading south while police followed.
According to Linda Rawley with the WPD, the men may have run into a residence off of 1100 Dawson Street.
About an hour later, officers received information that suspects that could have been involved in the shooting were hiding in a house.
Rawley said one of accused men left the house on a bike, with one riding on the handlebars. The man on the handlebars jumped off the bike when he was spotted by officers, got into a car and left the area.
Officers followed the car as it drove north on Tenth Street and finally caught up to it at Third and Church Streets.
Police charged Rokeem Dixon with fleeing to elude and driving without an operator license.
No charges have been filed in connection to the shooting at this time.
