First Alert Forecast: slow clearing and warming trend likely for work week

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A low pressure system which has been bringing many clouds to the area will slowly spin away between Monday and Wednesday. The result: a slow clearing and warming trend.

SUNDAY NIGHT FORECAST: Expect cloudy or partly cloudy skies. A shower or period of mist and drizzle is possible. Temperatures: mainly 60s. Winds: light and northeast.

COLUMBUS DAY MONDAY FORECAST: Clouds and a shower chance will be stubborn. Enjoy any sunny breaks which may materialize amid the dominant clouds. Highs: mainly low and mid 70s.

EXTENDED FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS: Expect a brightening / warming trend by midweek (example: Wednesday, partly sunny, high near 77). An approaching cold front will drive rain chances to near 40% by Friday.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK: Tropical storm formation is not likely in the Atlantic Basin during the early parts of this week.
