SURF CITY, NC (WECT) – Plans for a Walmart grocery store to open in Surf City are moving forward.
The planning board unanimously approved the project during a meeting Thursday night.
Preliminary plans for the store only include a grocery store and pharmacy. The proposed facility would be smaller than the Harris Teeter that is already in the area.
Walmart submitted plans to build at the intersection of Hwy 50 and Hwy 210, behind the CVS.
The plans and project still have to be approved by Town Council and could potentially change.
